The Archaeological Museum of Thessaloniki was built by the architect Patroklos Karinthos in 1962. The additional wing was built in 1980, where the excavations from the ancient city of Vergina were exhibited. Today, the central part of the museum houses the remains of ancient Thessaloniki and its surroundings.
