Pirot is a town and municipality in southeastern Serbia. The population is about 38,000 people. The city is the administrative center of Pirot District. The town is famous for its traditional hand-woven rugs made of genuine fabrics and natural wool. Pirot Region is known in Serbia as "the small Jerusalem" because of the numerous Orthodox churches and monasteries in the town and its surroundings.
