Near the village of Gergeti, outside the town of Stephantsminda, lies the isolated Gergeti Trinity Church. Also called the Holy Trinity Church, it sits on top of a mountain near Mount Kazbegi, at an elevation of 2170 meters.
Built in the 14th century, the church was constructed using classical Georgian architectural techniques and materials, counting stone and wood. The interior of the church is beautifully adorned with frescoes and religious artifacts.
