The first Franciscan monastery in Dubrovnik was outside the city walls, but because of the threat of war in the 14th century the monks were forced to abandon their abode and move behind the fortifications. The new monastery was built in 1317 and functions until today. Its architecture is a combination of Gothic and Romanesque style. In 1667 he suffered great damage in the Great Dubrovnik earthquake, after which he was completely reconstructed.
