"Athenaeum"is the most prestigios concert hall in Bucharest and one of the most beautiful buildings in the city. It was built in 1888 in neoclassical style by the French architect Alber Galeron. Most of the money needed for the construction were donated by the local people. The 40-meter dome adn the Dorian style columns reminds of ancient Greek temple. Inside the building there are scenes from the Roman history depicted. Nowadays in "Athenaeum" are organised mostly classical music concerts. There is a monument of the Romanian poet Mihai Eminescu.
