Addis Ababa is the capital and largest city of Ethiopia and also the country's political, economic, cultural and tourism center. It is located in the central part of Ethiopia and close to the equator. Sitting at the foot of Mount Entoto at an elevation of 2,355 meters, Addis Ababa is the highest city in Africa. The population is about 4 million people. As the national educational and cultural center, Addis Ababa boasts a large array of cultural facilities, memorial buildings and places of interests, such as the Addis Ababa University, National Museum of Ethiopia, Ethiopian Development Research Institute, Ethnological Museum of Ethiopia, Holy Trinity Cathedral and Church of St. George. Tourist attractions in the near suburbs include Mount Entoto, a lava lake and Lower Valley of the Awash. Several international organizations have their headquarters in the city, notably the African Union and the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa, the latter of which is located in Africa Hall.
